Our cars come with our own standard, and buying from a dealer also gives you rights under the law. Here's a plain summary, with links to the official sources.
What comes with our cars
- A current safety certificate, still often called a roadworthy or RWC.
- A clear title: no money owing to anyone else on the car.
- A clean PPSR check: no finance owing, and not recorded as stolen.
- Warranty is available. Ask us about the options for the car you like.
Ask us about any car's log books, service history and keys.
Your consumer guarantees
Under the Australian Consumer Law, a car you buy from a dealer must:
- be of acceptable quality, judged by things like its age, kilometres, price and the condition it was described in
- match its description
- be fit for any purpose you told us about before you bought it.
The law also guarantees clear title: no one else can have a claim on the car that you weren't told about. These guarantees apply on top of any warranty, and no contract, sign or website can take them away. The ACCC explains them in full.
In Queensland: statutory warranty
Most used cars sold by a licensed motor dealer in Queensland come with a statutory warranty at no extra cost:
- Class A: under 160,000 km and built no more than 10 years before the sale. 3 months or 5,000 km, whichever comes first.
- Class B: 160,000 km or more, or built more than 10 years before the sale. 1 month or 1,000 km, whichever comes first.
Some vehicles have no statutory warranty, such as motorcycles, caravans and commercial vehicles. The dealer must tell you if a car doesn't have one, and must give you the official warranty notice before you sign. The warranty doesn't cover some items, such as tyres, batteries, paintwork and upholstery, or damage from an accident or your own misuse or negligence. The Queensland Government's warranty page has the full list.
In Queensland: cooling-off
When you buy a used car from a licensed motor dealer in Queensland, you generally have a cooling-off period of 1 business day. It ends at 5pm on the dealer's next business day, or at closing time if the dealer closes earlier. The dealer must give you a cooling-off form before you sign; if it doesn't, the period is 7 days instead. To cancel, tell the dealer in writing. If you cancel during cooling-off, the dealer can keep up to $100 of your deposit. You lose the right if you drive the car away, unless it's for a test drive or an inspection by an independent mechanic. Cooling-off doesn't apply to some sales, such as consignment and auction sales. See the Queensland Government's cooling-off page.
See it, check it, drive it

Extended warranty
Warranty is available on our cars. Ask us about the options for the car you like, including what's covered, for how long and what it costs. An extended warranty is optional. It doesn't replace your consumer guarantees or any statutory warranty, and those rights apply whether or not you buy one.
Check any car yourself
Each car's page on this website shows its VIN. Use it for two quick government checks:
- Money owing, written off or stolen: search the VIN on the Personal Property Securities Register. A search costs $2.
- Safety recalls: search the VIN at vehiclerecalls.gov.au, the Australian Government's recall website. It's free.
It's also worth checking:
- that the odometer reading fits the service history
- the log books and service records
- that you're given all the keys.
A safety certificate isn't a mechanical inspection
In Queensland, a safety certificate checks basic safety items such as tyres, brakes, steering, suspension, lights and the windscreen. It isn't a full mechanical inspection. If you'd like one, a motoring group such as RACQ can do it, and taking the car to an independent mechanic for an inspection doesn't end your Queensland cooling-off period.
If something goes wrong
Tell us as soon as you can, in writing. In Queensland, a statutory warranty claim starts with written notice of the defect to the dealer before the warranty ends. The dealer then has 5 business days to reply, and if it doesn't reply in time it can't refuse to fix the defect. If you can't sort it out with us, Queensland's Office of Fair Trading can help.
Paying and trading in
Finance is available: ask us, or bring your own pre-approval. Trade-ins are welcome, and any figure depends on seeing your car.
