Who we are
Holmes Motor Wholesale ("we", "us") is an independent used-car dealer. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, who we share it with, and how you can see or correct it.
What we collect
- When you send us an enquiry, ask about a car or book a test drive: your name, phone number, email address, the car you're interested in, and anything you choose to tell us.
- When you ask us to value your car: details of that car, such as its year, make, model, odometer reading and condition.
- When you buy a car from us: the details we need to prepare the paperwork, transfer the registration and meet our legal obligations.
- When you use this website: technical information such as your device, browser and the pages you visit. This website may use cookies and similar technology so that it works properly.
We don't ask for your tax file number through this website.
How we collect it
Mostly directly from you: through this website, by phone, by email, by text message or in person.
Why we use it
- To answer your enquiry and follow it up.
- To arrange test drives, inspections and valuations.
- To sell you a car and complete the paperwork, including transferring the registration.
- To keep the records the law requires motor dealers to keep.
- To run and improve this website.
- To send you marketing, but only if you've agreed or the law otherwise allows it. You can opt out at any time.
If you don't give us your contact details, we may not be able to reply to you.
Who we share it with
- Businesses that help us run our dealership, including DealerDrive, which runs this website and our enquiry system, and our email and text-message providers.
- Government bodies, such as the registration authority when a car's registration is transferred.
- Our professional advisers.
- Anyone else we're required or authorised by law to share it with.
Overseas
Some of our service providers store or process information outside Australia, including in the United States.
Marketing
We only send marketing emails or texts if you've agreed to receive them or the law otherwise allows it. Every marketing message says who it's from and how to unsubscribe, and we act on unsubscribe requests within 5 business days. You can also ask us to stop at any time through our Contact page.
Keeping it safe
We take reasonable steps to protect your personal information from misuse, loss and unauthorised access. We keep it only as long as we need it, or as long as the law requires motor dealers to keep records.
Seeing, correcting or complaining
You can ask what personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct it, through our privacy requests page or our Contact page. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, tell us and we'll look into it. If you're still not satisfied, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it last changed.
