Trade in your car
Trading in your car

Trade-ins are welcome at Holmes Motor Wholesale. Tell us about your car using the form on this page and we'll come back to you. Any figure we give depends on seeing the car in person.
How it works
- Tell us the year, make, model and kilometres, and anything we should know about the car's condition.
- We look at the details and get back to you.
- We see the car in person. Any figure we give depends on that inspection.
- If you go ahead, the figure we agree goes towards the car you buy from us.
What usually affects the figure
- The car's age and kilometres
- Its condition inside and out, and any damage or faults
- Its service history and log books
- Whether it has all its keys
- How much demand there is for that make and model
Paying and money owing
Trade-ins are welcome however you pay. If money is still owing on your car, mention it in the form's condition notes and we'll talk it through when we get back to you.
Do you take trade-ins?
Yes, trade-ins are welcome. Send us the year, make, model and kilometres, and tell us about its condition, including any damage or faults, and any finance owing. We'll come back to you. Any figure we give is subject to inspection, so it depends on seeing the car in person.
Can I trade in a car that still has finance owing?
Tell us about it in your message: who the loan is with and roughly how much is owing. We'll talk it through with you. It helps to ask your lender for a payout letter, which shows exactly how much is needed to pay the loan off.
How do you work out what my car is worth?
Things that usually affect a trade-in figure include the car's age, kilometres, condition and service history, and what similar cars are selling for. That's why any figure we give is subject to inspection: we need to see the car in person before we can confirm it.
What should I have ready when I trade in?
The registration details, the service history or log books, all the keys and, if money is owing, a payout letter from your lender. Bring your driver licence too. It also helps to tell us about any damage or faults up front.
Does my car need a safety certificate to trade it in?
No. In Queensland, a car traded in to a licensed motor dealer doesn't need a safety certificate. You'd need one to sell a registered car privately. The Queensland Government explains the rules at qld.gov.au.
What happens to my trade-in if I change my mind during cooling-off?
In Queensland, if you end the contract during the cooling-off period, the dealer must give your trade-in back to you.
Tell us about your car
Year, make, model and kilometres are enough to start. If money is owing on the car, mention it in the condition notes.
